Make sure you read the information below before purchasing your tickets!

AfrikaBurn is a non-profit organization, it is also a 100% non-commercial event, this means that absolutely everything that make AfrikaBurn happen, is being done on a volunteer basis. This means that we rely almost solely (besides the odd small donation) on ticket sales to pay for the infrastructure costs of AfrikaBurn.

In the spirit of community building and inclusiveness, as well as being aware that not all participants are equal in income, we have a tiered pricing system for AfrikaBurn. As you will see, tickets are available at R200, for a limited period of time, the price of tickets will go up in increments of R50. We have also made provision for a certain amount of low income tickets which will be available at R150. Any tickets bought at a higher price level will subsidize those provided at a lower level.

Please help us and your fellow Afrika Burners by buying tickets at the highest price level that you can afford.

WILL CALL

All tickets purchased online will be collected on what we call a “will call” basis, this means that you will collect your tickets from the box office at the event before entering.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO PICK UP YOUR TICKETS

You MUST have a valid photo identity document (Passport, ID or drivers license), the credit card/deposit slip/proof of payment with which you paid for the ticket/s and your unique booking code generated when purchasing your tickets. No tickets will be released without proper identification. No refunds will be issued on unclaimed tickets. Please note that the box office/will call centre will be closed from 7pm on Saturday 18th October.

MULTIPLE TICKETS PURCHASED ON ONE CREDIT CARD

If you have bought multiple tickets using one credit card and people in your group intend to arrive at different times, it is important that the person whose credit card was used to make the purchase ARRIVES FIRST to claim the tickets (with photo ID, credit card and unique booking code in hand). If this person then wishes to leave the remaining tickets for friends at the box office/will call centre, they will put them in envelopes with a full name (first name and surname) for the various recipients. No envelopes will be given to people without photo ID.

LAST MINUTE CHANGES

If for some reason you have to sell or give your tickets away, the person that you have designated to take the tickets need to have the following with them:

  1. A letter signed by you, the original ticket holder. This letter must clearly state that you (give your name) have given/sold the tickets to the person now picking them up (give their name). For example: I Joe Soap sold my two will call tickets to Sally Soap and I hereby authorize her to pick them up.

  2. A photocopy of your photo id (we must be able to see the name clearly) and a photocopy of your credit card (you can black out the first couple of digits leaving the last four visible). We need to be completely sure that you have given/sold your tickets to the person picking them up.

As for any will call, the person collecting their tickets must have THEIR photo ID as proof of who they are!

TICKETS AT THE GATE

Although we strongly urge you to purchase tickets prior to arriving at AfrikaBurn there will be tickets available for sale at the gate, these will be sold for cash only and will cost R400 per ticket. We will not sell any tickets from 7pm on Saturday 18th October 2008 onwards.
